Re: [RC] [RC] New 30 minute rule for 50s - Long - Heidi SmithAs for ride vets agreeing or disagreeing, on this question I'd be interested to know what those ride vets who have raced for an endurance finish line themselves think about it (yes, I know you fall into that category). Yes, I do fall into that category. The year I campaigned Sansih, she raced for her position in 9 races, and won her position 8 of those 9 times. (And in several instances, she had galloped the entire last 25 miles or so.) And I've raced a few other horses on occasion as well. My racing was a few years back, when the pulse criterion was usually 64. In every instance, my horses were at or below criteria at 10 minutes, when we were required to pulse for BC. Likewise, I've pulsed scores of horses at 10 minutes for BC that have been involved in hot and heavy races, and most are at or below criteria in that time. Those that aren't usually re-present to me for completion well before half an hour and are down. Those not down by then usually look worried and uncomfortable, or dull. I would say that Kahlil is an exception, if you could run him that hard at the end of a race and have recoveries that long, and not have problems.
