But I think you make my point--the fact that they take that long to recover means they were ridden too close to the edge. Hey, I've always supported lowering pulse rates. You won't get any argument from me over the effectiveness of that. Shortening the time to present at the finish line, that's a different matter. I'll fight that. I TOTALLY disagree that a horse that requires 40 or 50 minutes to reach pulse criteria *after the finish* was ridden "too close to the edge." 'course, I know how long it takes *me* to recover after a vigorous run.
