The first answer is no, there is no way to keep a horse safe. :) Down here on the Gulf Coast, where hurricanes (and tropical storms like Bill yesterday) are a way of life, common practice is to turn all horses out into the largest available area so they can run and hide using their own natural instincts. I have brass name tags for my horses, like dog tags with owner info, that I braid into their manes when a bad storm is approaching (and also on camping trips) so that if the fences go and the horses end up somewhere else, whoever finds them can contact me. -- Glenda R.
