[RC] [Guest] night riding - Ridecamp Moderator

Hi Ridecampers,
Hopefully this reaches the digest...i'm completely pc illiterate and have had my email kicked back already for having the wrong address...or the wrong subject title...etc, etc,

I'm looking for some advice on *seeing* at night. I'm an experience competitive trail rider, but have never done and endurance ride. I've chosen my first one as Moonlight in Vermont (glutton for punishment...my first 25 WAS and my first 2-day 50 [CTR's] WILL BE in Vermont as well) I did a practice night ride last week when the full moon was supposed to be out...it never showed up...and it was REALLY dark. I know not to use a flashlight/headlamp, but was wondering if anyone has had any luck with glow sticks on the breastcollar. Are you really able to trot/canter at night without killing yourself? Or do you pretty much have to walk unless on a dirt road? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Always up for a challenge,
Faith
