[RC] Equine ulcers - gastrogard vs generic tagamet - Michael Maul

My understanding is that it's pretty expensive to treat ulcers in horses using Gastrogard - something like $1000/month. I have some friends going the Gastrogard route now.

I've heard of other people who have used the generic form of Tagamet(CIMETIDINE) for their horses at a much lower cost. An example of Canadian costs below with no prescription required is:

TAGAMET, Generic, 300mg, 180 Tablets, $23.40. TAGAMET, Generic, 400mg,
180 Tablets, $36.04. TAGAMET, Generic, 600mg, 180 Tablets, $40.89.

Has anyone on the list used the generic Tagamet successfully for the treatment of ulcers in an equine?

Mike
