[RC] silly questions re electrolytes - Rides 2 Farbut when Tums hit my stomach they react with the acid making gas, causing me to burp. Does it not affect the horses that way? It better not...since they can't burp. >g< Personally, I take 2 a day (for calcium) when I remember to and have no problem myself so don't know if that's a common reaction. And, how do you keep syringes working? I've tried coating the plunger rubber and the syringe insides with a little oil, and spraying with Pam. It helps but not completely. That's all I do..spray them with Pam when I remember and have even put a little Vasaline on the plunger at a ride when I'd forgotten. I do shoot a little water through it immediately after dosing to clear the plunger some, but you're probably doing that too. Mine always seem to work pretty well. I mix my electrolytes with yogurt the night before and store them in the cooler. Wonder if the rubber contracts a little when cold?
