Re: [RC] Twitch for loading - TypefOk ... I saw mention of Quietex the other day and went in search for it and all I could find was a human quit-smoking drug. Any comments? I'm looking because I have a mare that's a joy to ride but get so extremely nervous in the trailer that even after a 10 minute ride she comes out dripping in sweat. So far, we're taking 10-minute rides to a nearby stables and last week a 45-minute ride to a nearby conditioning trail. However, the closest endurance ride to me is 2 hours and can just envision what she's going to be like by the time we get there. I'll take any and all comments!!! :) Jackie (and Crystal the Claustrophic) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bette Lamore" <woa@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <walkergirl@xxxxxxxxxx> Cc: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, May 09, 2003 4:13 AM Subject: Re: [RC] Twitch for loading Hi Amanda The twitch in the trailer sounds like an accident waiting to happen. I would just put the trailer in his pasture or back it to his paddock and put his food in it for a while so that he learns it is a good place to be. Much easier on you and him and safer. Good luck Bette A. Perez wrote:I recently posted re: my troublesome TWH gelding who walks right one the trailer but backs right off if I leave his head. The recent posts have made me wonder if it is wortwhile trying a twitch to teach him to stand still once loaded? I have seen twitches which are designed to be attached to a cross tie so it does not have to be held on to. My objective here is to just get him used to standing on the trailer: no eating, no backing off: just stand. Also was wondering of Ace or quietex might help him not be quite so nervous while on the trailer.
