I would be really surprised to see horsemeat offered for sale at mainstream 
supermarkets, if for no other reason than because the majority of people 
would be opposed to it...kinda like the issue of eating dogs over in some of 
the Far Eastern countries (Korea?  I can't remember).  I don't think it's 
illegal to sell/eat horsemeat in the US, though (anyone know for sure?).
