RE: [RC] The USA-E notice and AERC members - Bob Morris
The USA-E notice stated<<<Additionally, USA Equestrian is in
the process of contacting all breed and
discipline affiliates that record or register horses that
compete in USA
Equestrian sanctioned competitions. When possible, USA
Equestrian will
attach the required horse ID number to an existing
registration or recording
number already supplied by the affiliate. In an effort to
make this as
seamless as possible to exhibitors, the USA Equestrian staff
is working with
Information Systems representatives of all affiliates in an
effort to
exchange as much data as possible to accomplish the task.
For example, a
successful data exchange has already occurred with the
American Saddlebred
Horse Association, and as a result, owners of American
Saddlebred (ASHA
registered) horses that competed in 2001 will be receiving
notification of
their new Horse ID number by early October 2002. Saddlebred
owners who do
not receive notification will still need to apply>>>
That is why I thought it might be a good idea to contact
them. After our experience with the AHRA the exchange should
go seamlessly.

*** This only can happen if you are a member of USA-E and
the AERC. I would guess
that only a small portion of our membership belongs to both.
I belong primarily for the
insurance coverage. It's another $85 to belong to USA-E in
addition to the $65 for
AERC. The AERC records don't show if members belong to both
nor is there
a field in s/w at present to indicate that or keep a USA-E
number if they had one.
Of course - it's SMOP to do so... :-) If you want a number
under the mentioned method -
you have to join USA-E first

*** Apparently past participants in FEI rides held in
conjunction with AERC rides
have had to do this already. Their horses have numbers.
So the principal beneficiaries would be those AERC members
who have not been in an FEI
event but will do so sometime in the future. I'd rather
hold my $85 until I decided to
ride in a FEI event.
At least that's my personal view.
