I know it is possible. When my stallion was 7 years old he had
been showed extensivelivly in working cow, stock horse, reining and hunt
seat pleasure, not to mention halter as a youngster. I had been
riding endurance since 1976 and it was my first love. So I decided
to take him on the XP ride in the fall of 1988. I got him home form
the trainer in August, now minde you he had never been on a trail
before in his life. He did great and finished the first and last day
of that XP. This was in the days when it was a point to point.
Unfortunately the following June while at a horse show he showed signs of
colic and underwent entrolith surgery. The surgery was successful
but I felt that the risks were just too great to risk any further
endurance riding. He was shown for 2 more years and is alive and
happy today at the ripe old age of 20. Good luck to you and
show your horse.

showhorse/endurance horse?
Yes, though I have not
ridden in an actual endurance ride, I'm still training and ride about 15
miles a shot with my boy. Can't wait till I can go to and actual ride. But
I have shown him. I think its great to take an endurance horse and show
them. Taking a show horse and trying to do endurance with them on the
other hand.... well.

horse?
Hi all....does anyone both show and ride distance on
their horse? I'm thinking of showing one of my guys. (He has been
shown before we got into this distance riding thing
<g>). He just did his first LD (and did quite well). I'd
still like to show him occasionally. There is a show coming up the
week after his next LD. Any thoughts? BTW will be a few performance
classes.
