[RC] B.C.A.A. Complex - Roger Rittenhouse

I thought I would toss this one out. I have asked the same question of
a few vets, as related to RULE 13 the 'drug rule'

BCAA. READ what the stuff is suppose do
    IMPROVE PERFORMANCE.
Now HOW does it do that.
Our good Drs will surely tell us that one.

But reading the mfgr rhetoric and reports in THE HORSE ,
     in rider terms it will-

Help with the management of Lactic Acid which is left over in the muscles
from doing work and more is left over with real hard work
    like racing.
This supplement will get into the Krebs cycle - very techie term -and
aide in the reprocessing of the Lactic acid.
     Normal process is for the
blood to carry the Lactates back to the liver and process them.
The use of BCAA is alleged to do the processing in the muscles.
The basic the way I understand - this is, the BCAA will add an oxygen donor
to the lactate and will produce glycogen - the fuel source we need and
    bypass the long liver reprocessing.

I am sure my bad science will be set straight.
    Getting to the point

DMG is reported to do the same thing - well almost just at a different
    point in the cycle.

Now the point. IS IT - BCAA -LEGAL to USE in a ride?

DMG is listed as NOT LEGAL.
BCAA will enhance performance very similar to DMG. Actually according
to the BCAA mfgr actually better and faster then DMG

HOW DO I KNOW THIS.. I run tests on ME. they both work well to stop
the muscle burn and soreness during and after the ride. Re-process
lactic acid on site. Will not build up in the quads from running down
    hill and so on.

Will it work the same way with the horse - sure. How much to give? who
    knows.
Are riders using BCAA - sure are- look around any VC now days
do they DMG use you bet ..

What will it do - HELP keep a horse from a tieup? Muscle cramps -
Will it effect / affect other metabolic issues - I think not - but it
    may. Don't know what

Will it make a trashed horse go on, most likely NOT
It just may help to prevent a problem doubt it will cause one.

When would it help the most - when you OVER RIDE your horse!.

If the horse is ridden within the correct limits the body will take
care of itself. Stay well under the anaerobic HR level. LOTS of rests
VC- lots of water and correct use of elytes to flush muscles.

I use it AFTER a ride/race every time (for my horse)
I use during a ride for ME.
    It speeds recovery.
I dont think either are harmful

I cannot find the studies from THE HORSE that said the BCAA do work.
They both show up in the horse as a naturally occurring substance,
since they are processed as needed you cannot find traces.
Last but not least NEITHER DMG nor BCAA will fail a drug test.
They are or can be performance enhancing.
    Are they BAD? WRONG?
    or FEED supplements?

Would I use either ? I will take the fifth first

Just some un-scientific information and food for thought.
