Re: [RC] Refusing entry to rides [was How Sad] - Lif Strand
Quoted from Truman Prevatt's message:
I would say unless there was documented proof of abuse caused the problem
you'd have a hard time withstanding a protest.
Darn. So let me pose this question to the list: Why do people leave rides
the same day they've done them, knowing that it's even more stress on the
horse? Last year's Heritage Ride a bunch of people left after the awards -
even though everyone had commented on how hard the ride was, even though
the roads out from the ride are twisty, mountain roads, thus insuring an
even tougher trailer ride. Paul and I used to stay overnight after rides
even when they were less than an hour's drive home. I would just have to
slit my throat if I decided to leave a ride the same day I did it and my
horse suffered for it. I just don't get why people would casually and
routinely risk their horses that way.
Oh yeah, another question: What would it take to discourage people from
leaving the same day as the ride? Aside from slashed tires, I mean?
