[RC] Overdrive when hauling - Roger Rittenhouse
FORD says to use the Overdrive and the cruse control as desired. IF
the truck 'hunts' going up a hill that is shifting gears from OD to
3rd - then drop out of OD and wait till you get the speed up above that flip
shift point.
On my F350 PSD 4 spd auto, that point is about 45 mph.
The Fords are built to run at max load (20K) in OD.
You may require additional transmission coolers . which I have added -
but you can run in OD - I also added a trans temp gauge - run it under
200F and all will be OK.
IF you run out of OD, the fuel mileage goes to less then 10mpg and the
tranny may heat up.
As well as running the engine RPM too high or you must go about 55
mph with a 4:10 rear.
If you really want to know all you never wanted to know about our big
trucks go to the assorted web sites and read archives ...

Should be NO difference with the Chev HD DM.
There is a site for Chev also and Dodge.
Roger R .. at home doing ? stuff - not riding - no OD this year..
