Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Charges only pertain to AERC members
How does ANYONE prove a horse was ridden to death? Long ago on one of our
rides, a horse dropped dead, suddenly, at the bottom of a steep hill at
about 25 miles from the start. The rider had been going at a moderate pace
(witnessed) throughout the ride and was walking the horse down the hill at
the time. A later post-mortem revealed the horse had blown an artery in his
lungs, due to parasitism in his earlier years. So.....someone could say the
rider had "ridden his horse to death", but the death in this case was not
due to the rider having overridden the horse. We'd all better be careful
where we point the finger, especially when we don't have all the facts. It
could happen to any of us, at any time. Death happens.....we don't always
have control over it. The obvious abuser is a different matter.
