Re: Bad Backs/Chronic Pain (Riders with...)
I had back surgery in March of 99 on an herniated disk. I was back in the
saddle in May of 99--took the year of just walking on my horse and doing
exercises to make me feel confident in trying to REALLY ride again. I have
strengthened my back by walking and by doing stretching exercises. I have
one 25 miler under my belt this year with little or no pain. Ibuprofen
works wonders on the tight, stiff and swollen muscles. Also have had a
couple of set backs and lying flat helps the pain. My back feels better
than it has in four years.

Subject: RC: Bad Backs/Chronic Pain (Riders with...)
I'm doing some research to find out what riders with chronic pain or
injuries do to keep riding. Need feedback on what (besides lots of
painkillers) works for you-exercise (what type), stretching, physical
therapy, chiropractic, massage, Feldenkrais, Pilates, whatever you do. Can
you REPLY ALL, so I'm sure to get it?
