Yep that's exactly right.  It is bad enough with pads on some of the SE slick
red clay, wet grass, etc.  I have done 100's in the West with easy boots over
shoes on all four and they worked quite well.  But I remember one Biltmore when
it rained and going up some of the steep it was three steps up and slide back
two in Slypners. With easy boots (or Equithotics for that matter) I don't know
if we would have ever got to the top.
