Well, Susan, I for one will help protect you as California is a desert
and no place to be growing rice anyways... wanna talk water wars? ;-)
Interesting, everything you write about what *should* be on paper (ie,
putting weight on a thin horse with increased energy feed) isn't necessarily
what I've had happen in real life. I fed lots of grain and energy, but was
unable to put weight on the TB (corn oil didn't work either... hmmm) until
I used generic rice bran and/or Dynamite. And I mean like the VET said
"This horse is too thin, (over the ribs and backbone, ignore that hay belly)
you have to start feeding it!".
Has anyone out there been able to put weight on a thin horse in real life
using just grain / energy feed?
On the other hand, I totally agree you can get yourself into much trouble
with rice bran not properly Ca+ /P balanced! Been there, done that. May
*still* be paying for it 18 months later.
