The bumps turned out to be baby ticks! Wow! One good rain and they are
everywhere!! Clustered under the jowls. I checked Mystery and he had a
few coming up on his rear end...lots of warmth and padding there. So
meanine me, gave him a bath on Sunday, shampooed his hair...last of the
season I'm sure. Have to be pretty for that Sonoma ride..please don't
roll!

Lesson learned on Sat: if the horse acts wierd in ANY WAY at all..that
something could be wrong..listen! Get Off and LOOK! Going down a very
steep narrow hill he kept acting like he was going to go off the side of
the trail in one of his "I'm peeing now and right now" modes. Crazy
horse! Keep going you'll kill us!

Back at the ranch he got a pinch of skin under the biothene girth (must
have slipped a little) and a girth sore! Swelled a little Sunday and if
very far forward..I KNOW its my fault and he was Telling ME! So do I
use the same for Sonoma 50 (easy 50, no big hills, no girth sores
before..ever)...go buy a wool cover or buy a mohair girth? No time to
try out something new...no extra money either (farrier, vet, ride,
broke!).

Good news was he got into leading Fair and Square at speed extended
monster ground eating trot ears forward leaving them arabs 3 - 4 horse
lengths behind! Wow! Thanks Linda and Katja for being such good
training partners. What a ride!

Long enough! Happy fall and safe riding to all!
Kimberly (&Mystery the Morab.."yeah, like I wanted to pee down a narrow
trail when those guys were turning a corner....when will YOU be
trained?!!")
