And on that happy note, I'm going to bed. 'Night.

Another few thoughts on rabies vaccine. Several years ago, a horse
was positively diagnosed with rabies (head was sent to U.C. Davis),
and the entire family had to go through treatment. This is about
5 miles from where I live (Lake County, Northern California).
I honestly believe the risk of my horses contracting rabies is so
low as to be immeasurable! HOWEVER, first of all, all the local
vets reccomend the rabies vaccine for all pets and domestic animals.
Second, the welfare and safety of my children is far more important
than the issue of risk of potential problems to the horses from a
vaccine! I'm sorry, much as I love my horses and do everything I
can to protect them, but my family is far more important! Losing a
horse to a vaccine-related problem would be pretty awful (this
happened to a horse of mine from the VEE vaccine in 1971 or 72), but
far less a tragedy than if my children contracted rabies!
It's a small price to pay ($30/year for 3 horses), to buy that piece
of mind! I don't lose any sleep worrying if my horses will have a
problem from the vaccine!
