Re: [RC] ballot amendment - Lucy TrumbullHope wrote: To all citizens of the USA: Why should non-residents legal or un-legal vote in AERC matters. Er, Hope, the ballot refers to people who *are* resident in the US, they just don't specifically hold *citizenship*. The wording is "...A Member who is a citizen or resident alien of the United States...". Do we get to vote on anything in their country? Illegal residents are now asking for free health benefits and some are getting it. That is not relevant in this case. Who pays? The tax paying citizens of this country of course. I am *not* a US citizen, however, I *am* a tax-paying (legal) US resident alien (i.e. a "green card" holder) and have been for nearly ten years (and a member of AERC for ~5 years also). Unless they change the original wording of the bylaws (which was originally written that way in error), I am not entitled to vote. If they want to vote then become a citizen that's the solution. Evidently, you've never dealt with the INS. :) ~$400 and standing in line (literally) for several days... I vote no. AERC # 2010 Hope Lundquiist Your choice, but you seem to be misinformed about what you are voting about. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Lucy Chaplin Trumbull elsie AT foothill DOT net Repotted english person in Sierra Foothills, California * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= http://www.endurance.net/ads/seabiscuit.html Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
