[RC] Breeding Paints - Tamara Taylor

I wanted to bring your attention to something that I think indicates that
despite what you say about these bloodlines these horses are overbred and
some do indeed end up in the kill pen. Go to www.naeric.org. Browse through
some of the PMU ranchers webpages. Most of the studs used on these ranches go
back to the bloodlines that you mentioned. For example, one ranch has
bloodlines from the following studs:
Two Eyed Jack
Zan Parr Bar
King Fritz
Hollywood Jac 86
Colonel Freckles
Peppy San Badger
Sonny Dee Bar
Zippo Pine Bar
Just to name a few. You are naive if you think that ALL PMU babies find homes
and none end up in the 'kill pen'. I believe there are upwards of 30,000
produced in Western Canada alone each year. I don't really find the relevance
of saying that Paints and QH aren't over-produced compared to Arabians. If
anything I would say it is the opposite where I live...most PMU mares have some
QH or Paint in them, NOT Arab. And I think that the whole 'en vogue' thing you
mentioned probably has a lot to do with why these bloodlines have found their
way into the PMU barns and the massive overproduction.

Tamara
