[RC] Fwd: Tragedy on the Great New Zealand Trail Ride - Maryanne Stroud Gabbani

Got this from a Kiwi friend of mine who was staying with me last fall. Apparently the ride was in the area where LOTR was filmed (and is filming again) and where a Tom Cruise movie is being filmed as well.

Tragedy struck the Great NZ Trail Ride over the weekend. Every year a trail
ride is organised somewhere around New Zealand. Riders are sponsored, and
the money goes towards MS research. Over the weekend, something spooked the
horses in the paddock causing a mass stampede, and the death of 15 horses
(though the paper only reports 12 deaths). A friend of mine was down there
for the ride, and her horse is okay. However, the two horses she went down
with are both dead. What a tragedy.
