dogs
I just read Steve Shaw's post about dogs at Vet check 3, 5, and 7. He
is politely ignoring the fact that one of the dogs was a loose pit
bull. While I'm sure it is well trained and "would never bite anyone",
I don't believe it belonged loose at a ride and it caused me to stay
back although I was Pnr ing. Call it prejudice, I believe that some
breeds require more supervision than others and a higher level of
responsibility and diligence in assuring the safety of everyone. I was
in the vicinity when some folks brought up a young mastiff and this pit
bull came over to establish pecking order. I did not like the scenario
one bit and think folks at the ride got off lucky without a dog-bite
incident. I have trained dogs over the years, by the way, never
beyond Shutzhund I work, but think that I have some basis for my
concern. jan freed
p.s. (I left my dogs at home and paid well to do so!)
