Thanks for the numbers, Michelle. Now it's time to think some more. next to 
factor in is ride intake that will provide further energy actually useable 
during the ride. My understanding is that the VFAs and FFAs from hay taken in 
during the ride won't become available in quantity for some time--12 to 18 
hours after intake. Energy from grain, however, will start entering the 
bloodstream within 15 minutes of intake.
