I believe there has been some out of Oregon State... Having practiced and
ridden and vetted rides in a VERY selenium-deficient area, though, I can tell
you that clinically it makes a heck of a difference, whether it has been
fully explored by research or not. But you are right on the money that there
are a LOT of different causes of the problem, so to address the problem
properly, you have to determine which cause you are dealing with. And
sometimes it is multi-factored--for instance, selenium is instrumental in
proper use of calcium, so being selenium-deficient can cause manifestations
of less severe calcium imbalances than that individual might be sensitive to
when his selenium levels are normal.
