Public opinion is a strong motivator, even of Directors.  If this
forum is not for the discussion of such things, then IMO it is not
fulfulling a vital purpose.

Objecting to a wrongheaded fee/"donation" is constructive.  Shining
light on such things, bringing out into the open the members' feelings
about them, is constructive.  It may be too late to get this bad
decision reversed this year (although I hope not), but I hope we at
least prevent a repeat at future Conventions.

Back when I was on the Board we adopted a policy of not making rule
changes without publication of the proposed change, and an opportunity
for member input, before a final vote.  I think this same policy
should be used for any additional fees or fee increases!
