Re: RC: Height in FEI Horses
Yes it may look odd, but one of the best horses in Alberta was a little
Arab/appaloosa mare of about 14.1 ridden by Roy Cust with a riding
weight of around 240. He was on the cover of Canadian Horse cantering
down the beach at the worlds in Holland (the photo is on our web site at
enduranceriders.ab.ca). Yes it does look a little out of proportion.
Roy and Reddee Magic came 8th at the North American Championships in
1993 at Kananaskis Alberta.
The key is that the horse was always in superb condition winning the
Best Conditioned horse award in our province in 1992 and 1993. They
also have their Cougar rock photo. They were the team to beat in our
area for quite awhile. And while it did look a little odd, a lot of
folks will remember Roy with his curly white hair and his little appy
mare that never had a problem carrying him. (She is now carrying
foals.)
