either event. >>
Admittedly many of the non-purebreds are taller--no surprise there. I
haven't sticked RO Grand Sultan (Rio) who held his own in world level events
probably longer than any other horse going, but I would sincerely doubt that
he is over 14:3, if that. Many fit, angular horses have a "tall look" but
really aren't all that huge once you stand next to them and put hands on
them. Thinking about FEI level horses from my own area, On A High
(gold--Flagstaff) was quite small, Saxx (who carried a
heavyweight--silver--Flagstaff) was quite average-sized, RT Muffin (AERC Hall
of Fame, FEI golds in yesteryear) is a bit over 15 hh but is not a
particularly big horse, Christy Janzen's Tais is not a big mare--the list
goes on and on. Not FEI--but BRR Aurber Lights (Tevis winner by a margin of
well over an hour) likely won't make 14:2 with a stick and level. Yes, I'd
like to know where Cash and Jedi stick, but they didn't stand out to me to be
overly large in comparison with others who I've had hands on a lot more and
know for darn sure aren't particularly tall.
