I agree with Heidi. We have one several laid back arabs that we
have competed with. That is the way that I train them. The
calmer arabs do not get overly excited at the starting line and
they like the steady pace of a distance ride. They will settle
into what ever pace you want right off the bat, even on their
first time. Of course, I do lots of trail rides before I do any
distance rides on my young ones. And I like to do they slowly
and calmly.
