If he is dipping like this, and if you are examining his back correctly, he 
IS sore, even if he warms out of it while being ridden and feels better 
afterward.  It would pay to have him checked out by a vet familiar with 
endurance horses as well as by a qualified chiropractor.  If nothing appears 
to be wrong, then warm him up before saddling and before the pre-ride vet-in.
