I have kept my mare in my stock trailer on more than one occasion during
pouring rainstorms...once in the night between a two-day 100...and she
did just fine. Her space was eight by eight so it was like a loose box.
I would not let your horse have the "run" of the entire trailer if it's
more than 12 feet long. As long as your horse is content and quiet (and
it sounds like he is used to it)...you just don't want him banging on
the sides of the trailer all night!
Still, my mare was happier outside and would let me know when she wanted
out, but it was always a comfort to know that I had the option.
Bobbie (who can't speak for ridecampers "as a group" -- just my own experience)
