Just a figure of speech..not a rule. They say you should compete your
horse slowly for 2 years before going for speed. Sounds like somebody
else might have done it on Valarie's horse before she started riding him.
It takes 2 years to get optimal conditioning on bones, tendons, etc. as
opposed to 90 days for muscles...so you can have a horse that's fast in
90 days, but one that LASTS in 2 years.
