Re: Cass at Liberty Run
>was stupid to gallop the last 20 miles.
It is amazing what some people have the skills to get away with, when I
have to make *every* step of increased speed with my horse in BABY steps.
Sort of makes you skeptical about all that wonderful advice about not
racing for two full years. I could be wrong, but it didn't sound as if
this is a horse that has been around competing or somebody would have
known him. If that's wrong I'd love to hear who he is...since he's
obviously going to be a horse to watch.
Granted, for my horses I've found the two year rule to be very true, but
this was this horse's first 100...and I'm sure they have no intention of
trashing a really promising horse to win a ride that's *just* a local
ride....they've obviously got this figured into a greater plan. I'm also
certain that my training program doesn't BEGIN to compare to theirs. I'd
just say there's some strategy going on that's WAY over my head. One
thing I do know is that when you do well at a sandy ride in the
Southeast, you can expect a long distance phone call very soon. Nina...I
suggest you unplug yours!
