When I lived in New Jersey, my diesel car was exempt from emissions
testing. I was under the impression this was because Diesels don't have
the more harmful emissions. I have a diesel truck now and I was talking
to a mechanic about them and they really do run totally different from a
gas model. The octane is lower and they don't combust in the same way,
that is from a spark plug. I'm not a mechanic, so my understanding is
probably not ideal, but still ...
