Re: Hikers, Bikes and Horses, Oh my!
Hello all -
I am really lucky. After reading all these posts about the problems my
fellow distance and trail riders have with some hikers, I once again count
my blessings. In the ten years I've owned Kit, and have been distance
riding, I have never even seen a hiker or mountain biker in the gorge I ride
in across from the barn, or the small state park I live next to. I had never
come across any dirt bikers, either. That is, until this spring when my new
mare, Dani, spooked and dumped me, running off on our first trail ride.
After walking a mile or so, two dirt bikers came by and to make a long
story short, they spent about three hours helping me find her, that included
giving me a ride back to the barn (two people on a little dirt bike is not
comfy) so I could saddle up Bobby to go back out searching. We got Dani
back safe and sound, and they refused any reward.
