Re: Corrective/Pathological Shoeing

My present endurance horse slides and wears both rear shoes on the outside.
I was unable to get 6 weeks on a set, and my horse doesn't grow enough hoof
to shoe more often. My farrier refuses to do anything cause the foot is
properly balanced, and if you do to much on an endurance horse they go lame.
My solution has been to switch to St. Croix eventer shoes, and arc weld hard
surfacing alloy all around the shoe except the toe. I fill the groove at
the toe with the alloy. This makes the shoes much more wear resistant, and
allows the toe to be somewhat round.

This system has worked well for two years now.
