Ooooooh, Drin......but......eeeeek you can see how new I am to the sport 
here.....but the impression I get with the 25 milers is that horse racing 
is what it has evolved into being NOW.  I don't know what it was like then, 
but it is definitely a horse race now!  I started out doing LD, and have 
since done 50's faster than that first 25 I did.....more often than not I 
see people (friends included!) that start out racing LD and then are never 
able to keep a horse sound to complete 50's on a regular basis.  I don't 
think it's anything to be proud of to brag about top tenning or winning a 
LD ride......just makes me sad to see how hard people are willing to push a 
horse.  (no flaming here, I know that lots of people don't race LD's but 
enough do it that it gives a bad impression of the sport, at least it has 
to my family and non-horse friends)
