>>1) Is this a permanent condition or can it be improved with hoof care>>and shoeing?>>2) If the flat soles cannot be changed, can a horse successfully>>compete over rocky ground with either pads or special shoeing for>>protection? Kaboot has very little cup to his feet, fairly flat (but well shaped wide heels, not low) He just won a darned rocky ride with no pads, and trains on Pigeon Mtn. which is fairly notorious for rocks. I have 2 Welsh ponies, one with great looking feet and one with no heels and horribly flat feet. They're both barefoot and the one with good looking feet runs you through the trees trying to stay off the rocky part of the trail, while the flat footed one acts like rocks don't bother him at all. I'm starting to wonder if "thick" soles are a trait that some have. Angie ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it.
