beet pulp or other weight gain supplements

I have read the posts in the archives concerning beet pulp, and have even 
used it before to put and keep weight on a horse.  My problem is I CANNOT 
get it where I now live.  I have asked every feed store in the area and I 
just got dirty looks like What the _____ is that!  Any way one feed store 
said that they could get the beet pulp, but it would cost about $25.00 a bag 
and I'd have to get at least two for them to order it. So does anyone have 
suggestions for alternate weight gain supplements keeping in mind I live WAY 
OUT there.
