John, I am quite disappointed in your change of direction.  I have
greatly appreciated your hard work , focus, and dedication in becoming
the  1999 LD 5 Mile National Champion.  To that end, my family and I have
put in a tremendous amount of time in laying out the world's most
challenging 5 mile trail....and now, at the last minute, you decide the
100 Mile Championship is your cup of tea!  I just want you to know that
Carol Dee spent one hour and ten minutes marking the 5 mile championship
trail, and now it turns out to be a waste of time.....oh well, I guess we
will just have to incorporate it into the 100 mile trail.  Please be
warned, If anyone complains about how tough that 5 mile segment of the
100 is, I am going to point you out.

btw~ The AERC NC 100 is August 17th in the Lincoln National Forest of New
Mexico.  The AERC NC 50 is August 20th at the same location.
