Katee,

thanks for sharing this with us.  I KNOW this is an isolated incident,
but it brings back the point I was making.  You MUST have NOT only
endurance experience(and lots of it) but breeding experience(and LOTS of
it) because it "ups" the danger and stress levels put on the mare.  This
would be true of any intense competition  (jumping, eventing, showing,
etc)that a pregnant mare was involved in.  Obviously, this particular
person did not have enough of EITHER  experience, but THIS  level of
riding  involves so much more than just pleasure  riding.

I am well aware that certain times in the pregnancy would cause less
danger than others, but unless there is a COMPELLING reason to do so, I
think after all the trouble and expense and worry of getting a mare 
safely to a live birth, this is only adding one more variable  that
could easily be avoided.
