RE:  riding a mare in foal in endurance rides, although it is not
prohibited by AERC rules, so I'm told, it is a good idea to take each
individual set of circumstances into consideration.
Many years ago I rode a ride in Quicksilver Park in San Jose, CA, and
someone's horse didn't pass the pre-ride vet-in.  So, this person,
desperate to ride, went home and picked up a mare that had just lost a
foal.  Entered it, and it was dead before the first vet check.  Awful.
