National championship is New Mexico

I'm hoping to qualify for the national championship ride, but know nothing 
about New Mexico, the climate, or what the riding down there is like. Would 
love to hear from anyone who has ridden in that area and can give me some 
information. I don't know, maybe I don't want to qualify if it's a real 
tough, hot ride! Ha! Ha!
