Hi, I have some input on this from experience: The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail starts at Campo, on the Mexican Border below San Diego, and travels the spine of the High Sierra to Manning PRovincial Park, Canada. It passes through 22 wilderness areas. Three states, California, Oregon and Washington. The highest peak on the trail is Forester Pass at 13,000 feet +, It is 2,638 miles long and takes 5 1/2 months to ride or hike. It is a foot and hoof trail only - no motorized allowed. Our organization sends volunteer crews to help keep it repaired. There is an organization called the Pacific Crest Trail Associaton that I worked for as an Executive Director and you can get all the information you need by email to: Bob Ballou 71204.1015@compuserve.com - it will include a map and color brochure of the trail. It is a life altering experience to travel this trail. I have already ridden 1100 miles in central California and 150 miles in the Lassen area.
