It is possible to use a simple two D cell battery operated fencer with tape or fence "string"
(plastic coated wire, usually colored). Firbeglas stakes are designed to accept tape or wire. Two
types of stakes that I have found: One is a straight stake which needs metal "spring" hooks that
slide down over the stake. A rubber mallet is the best device for pounding them in, unless the
ground is very soft. A cap is provided to use as a striking surface so that the stake doesn't
mushroom. The other stake has a tape hook molded into it. It also has a step molded into it so
that a person should be able to press it into the ground with leg action. I haven't used this type.
Horses seem able to go through any kind of fence a ride camp if they are so inclined. At least with
this extremely portable set up, you don't have to use up a lot of room, it goes up and down easily,
and can be adapted to any terrain. It does need grounding, as does any electric fence. I clip the
ground to the trailer, using the trailer back door or the escape door as the gate to the "corral."
Then you have the trailer handy for tying off.
