Hi Linda, I have found by shortening the outside rein, the horse moves
into you all right but I don't like that rear end swinging toward me while
the horse is focused away from me. With the inside rein shortened, the
horse is forced to circle around you and you can have one foot in the
stirrup, hop on the other foot if need be, your left shoulder & left back
is close to the head making it easy to keep that circle going and the
horses attention is on you, not gazing off some where. Bottom line, what
ever works to get the horse to stand while mounting and dismounting.<g>
That is one thing I insist on!
