Curiousity Shoeing Question
> It sounds like a "standard shoeing" even differs from area to area.
Standard shoeing differs around Memphis from barn to barn. The farriers who
work in the big hunter/jumper show barns get away with charging up to $125 or
better. The barns out in the "country" where we poorer folks have our horses
average $55-65.
I happen to have one of my horses in one of these hunter/jumper barns (for
lack of another place to put her at the moment) and I make sure my tried and
true farrier comes to shoe Emily. The farriers for the hunter people are no
better than my excellent farrier, but my observation is the hunter people
will pay any bill handed to them when it comes to their horses. They don't
seem to know any difference. I have been amazed for years. I guess it is a
classic example of charging what the market will bare.
