shoeing cost
Hi'
here in central ND .I pay $13 for a trim. Shoeing is $35,I have not had any
horses shod yet . Mostly just trail riding and my farrier hates to shoe a
horse unless it really needs it. He believes most horses do not need shoes
if they are will cared for and most are shod needlessly . He said endurance
horses ridden no lots of hard ground or horses kept in stalls most of their
life(makes their hooves soft) need shoes but most pastured horses do not. He
says most of his customers shoe just for looks. He tries to talk them into
going barefoot for the horses sake! After 25 years he's gotten some of us
looking his way!
But I have talked to him about shoeing Annie and he said to wait and see
after our first ride (July) . So we'll see. If she needs them she'll get
them. But I only have time for a few rides a year and he doesn't think they
are needed, I not so sure will wait and see.
Any other barefooter out there?
Tamara and (barefoot)Annie
