Tamara,
Good for you and good for your farrier! A barn my cousin moved to recently
shoes their horses year 'round and it makes her nuts! I feel it's much
healthier to leave them barefoot unless they need to be shod. My gelding goes
barefoot from mid-Oct to March or April, depending on the weather. I would
leave him barefoot longer but we ride on pavement and gravekl and he needs shoes
for protection. But if he didn't he sure would not get them needlessly! My
farrier agrees, by the way; shoe them if there's a reason but otherwisw tirim
them and let them go naturally!
