Shoeing costs..
Out here in *very* rural Northeast Texas, when you can find a farrier, the
price is around $35 for a full shoe...heard of them for $25 even...quality
is hard to find, though, at any price...my current farrier comes on
excellent recommendations and is $35.
However, back on the East Coast {Pennsylvania near Allentown, PA} I found
the quality to be extremely poor and the prices astronomical...$75 for a
full shoe was CHEAP and it was chop'em up and move'em out...no time, no
careful evaluation of horse's condition...long toe-no heel and
don't-you-dare-tell-them-diferent attitude. Needless to say, this was
representative of the large majority of the horse communities' attitude, and
I moved away very quickly.
In far Northern California - where I'm originally from - the prices were
about at $55/full when I moved just about a year ago, and the quality of
farriers was excellent - that's one of the things I miss most....I have yet
to find the quality at reasonable prices that I had while there.
